So if you work to build up your knowledge of horse racing and perhaps specialise you will have no need to pay for any “secrets”. It is all there just waiting for anyone to go and access it.

The more you know about horse racing and race horses the more likely you are to find winners on a consistent basis. Of course you will need to send them some money, often quite a lot of money to discover the “secret”.

Of course as rational people we know there is no such thing as a “secret” method of finding horse race winners. The key to finding horse race winners is simply knowledge.. Therefore it makes sense top specialise in one area such as flat racing, national hunt or all weather racing. How can they do this? It is because they have discovered a “secret” that no one else knows, (well no one who has not bought their system) that cannot fail to make you wealthy.

You will already have the advantage that you need and that is no secret.

There is one way that you can improve your chance of finding winners and making your horse race gambling profitable.

Practically everyday I receive a letter or email offering me a horse racing system which is going to make me rich.

Horse racing is a huge subject and it can be difficult if not impossible to be an expert in all aspects. If this is a secret then it is one of the worst kept in the whole history of secrets. Many of the most successful horse race gamblers have an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of horses, trainers, courses and all other relevant factors. Practically every horse race meeting is covered live on TV with race replays later. Racing has been a popular sport for over 300 years and in all that time no one has discovered an infallible way of picking winners or if they have they are not telling anyone about it. They did not achieve this knowledge overnight but worked hard to acquire it. They often promise a fast and quick way to wealth beyond my wildest dreams. This type of specialisation can give you a distinct advantage over the average punter. There are specialist books and videos on all aspects of the sport.

If you get it wrong, your streak resets to zero. Basketball and football include picking ATS (against the spread), which makes Covers.com the closest thing to actually betting on sports on this list.. Other prizes are available for smaller streaks. If you get your pick correct, your streak goes up.

Only having the option of picking one game a day makes this contest one of my favorites. Each day you can make one pick from a list of games that Covers.com chooses. You do not have to pick everyday, but you must pick once every six days to keep your streak alive.

The ultimate goal is to build a streak of 24 correct picks for the overall grand prize of $100,000. See the table to the right for a breakdown of the prizes.

Many of the picks are not just picking which team will win. We have found that during basketball season it was much easier to find a good pick than it has been during baseball season.

Covers.com is a sports betting information website that runs a free streak style contest with a top prize of $100,000. It doesn’t take a lot of time and it is a contest that a smart sports fan has a reasonable shot at winning. My longest streak was seven in a row and my girlfriend had 11 in a row during basketball season Learn More

It was gifted to the French king and later was taken to England. There is good length from the hip to the stifle. He has been trained to gallop at top speed virtually every time he is saddled and to pass all others if he can. Some are only suitable as companion animals.

There are now a number of rescue organizations that take in ex-racehorses and try to find good homes for them. He was purchased by Thomas Darley in Aleppo, Syria in 1704, shipped to Yorkshire, England and bred to selected racing mares. Eclipse was never beaten in a race and 90% of all registered thoroughbreds trace back to him.

The ribcage is deep and rounded and the chest wide with plenty of room for heart and lungs. If someone says of his dog ‘It’s a thoroughbred’ he is saying that it is a purebred saluki or whippet or whatever. Eclipse was never beaten in a race and 90% of all registered thirst really great race-horse. These adoption agencies endeavour to match a horse with a new owner. In the horse world, it is also used by people to describe a purebred of a breed. Eclipse was another to have Darley Arabian blood. When crossed with native British horses and ponies, the progeny were larger with a longer stride, more scope and more speed.

The oriental influence is seen, not only in the refinement and speed of the breed, but also in the fine coat which thickens and lengthens only slightly in the winter. Matchem was also noted for his impeccable temperament, a vast improvement on the highly strung, nervous individuals of the day.

The overall impression is one of elegance, toughness and quality. Some strains are particularly nervy and highly strung but have been kept on because of their speed. The three are the Byerley Turk, the Darley Arabian and the Godolphin Arabian. The stallion was shipped to England and bred to native mares. Most warmblood breeds such as the Swiss and Dutch Warmbloods have a large percentage of Thoroughbred blood.

Between 1660 and 1750, around 200 horses were imported into England from the Orient. The racing industry is huge in America. Thoroughbreds are most often associated with the horse-racing industry although they are also used in many other equestrian disciplines.

Thoroughbreds were imported into the United States from the 1730s. Thoroughbreds need more protection from the elements than ‘native’ or cross breeds and they usually require supplementary feeding year round.

The main period of expansion was probably when the 1800s when the thoroughbred found its way to Australia, Europe, Japan and South America. Three of these are recognized as being the foundation sires of the thoroughbred world. Those that are too small for the race-track find a home on the polo field providing their temperament is not too fiery.

The Godolphin Arabian was foaled in Yemen before going to Syrian then Tunis. Animals with suspect conformation are more likely to ‘break down’ if their action is faulty or their legs insubstantial.

The thoroughbred has a quality and athleticism that has become the benchmark for a perfect equine.

The head is straight, lean and elegant with large eyes and finely chiseled ears. However the thoroughbred is also a distinct breed in its own right. One of his get was Flying Childers, arguably the first really great race-horse. To excel at another discipline, he needs re-training and re-educating so although they may be quite cheap to acquire, an ex-racehorse is not the best mount for an inexperienced rider.. Some thoroughbreds are produced purely for disciplines other than racing while some find their way to show-jumping or eventing careers when their racing careers are over. The breed had its origins in England back in the early 1700s and selective breeding is still going on, resulting in faster and faster times on the race-track.

The Byerley Turk gets his name from Captain Robert Byerley who captured the stallion from the Turks. He will often need supplementary feeding and rugging through cold weather. Initially horse-racing was the pastime of the aristocracy and gentry but its popularity, and the lure of gambling, has seen racing and breeding of the thoroughbred spread to every corner of the globe.

Once past racing, a thoroughbred can face an uncertain future. In the extremes of horse disciplines such as eventing, hunting and show-jumping, professional riders look for at least some thoroughbred blood to provide courage and speed. One of his most illustrious sons was Herod, who became an important name in the pedigrees of many of the early thoroughbreds.

Thoroughbreds average around 16 hands. Others are laid back and lovable. The shoulder is big and muscular and the withers tend to be high.

Today, all thoroughbreds in the General Stud Book, which was established in 1791, trace back to these three foundation sires.

The thoroughbred has been used to ‘improve’ many breeds.Breeds such as the Hanoverian, Trakenher, Holsteiner and Irish Draught  have at least some Thoroughbred blood, thus providing speed, courage and beauty. They are typically more highly strung and temperamental than most other breeds. It seems generally agreed that, of these three, only the Darley Arabian was a true Arab, The Byerley was almost certainly a Turkmene type and the Godolphin a Barb.

Young thoroughbreds are raced at an early age before their bones have fully developed and leg problems and injuries often arise. The 2nd Earl of Godophin acquired the stallion. In 2003, Maryland also appointed the Thoroughbred its State Horse.

The most rapid development in improvement of performance took place during the 19th century and the early part of the 20th century. Eclipse was another to have Darley Arabian blooc. One of his progeny was Matchem, a race-horse par excellence. They are highly intelligent, quick and eager to please. There are now literally millions of thoroughbreds and they are spread all over the globe.

The Darley Arabian is considered the most important of the three. The nostrils are open and capable of flaring allowing Learn More

It should be noted that many fewer MLB games have qualified so far this season (is the whole world using RLM now?), but smaller profits is still profit.Again, these records are for Money Lines only and do not include totals. Finally, NHL sports betting has picked up 148.49 units in two years, and unlike MLB, NHL had four sportsbooks out of the top five gain double-digit units this past season. All of this will be fun to follow (not to mention profitable) when every sport except baseball are going on simultaneously during the winter months.

    http://prosportsonline.net

The proper way to make a sports bet using reverse line movement is to place your bet as soon as there is an RLM of one full point (or 10 cents in MLB and NHL) off of the opening line. Furthermore, they list the RLM records for many individual sportsbook, making it easy to spot which books this system is working at and which books it may be best to ignore.

    prosportsonline.net

Now do the sharps win every single time? Absolutely not! However, they are right more often than they are wrong, so being on the same side as the sharps is a prudent strategy over the long run, and again, the best thing is that there in absolutely no conventional sports handicapping necessary..

Also, games where over 60 percent of the public are on one side, yet there is reverse line movement of at least 10 cents on the Money Line from the opening number at the top five sportsbooks in MLB and NHL sports betting has also been profitable. Carib ruled the roost season at 93-66-9, 58.5 percent, +18.55 units after ABC held the penthouse spot in the 2007-08 season.

    Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

    By: Manny G

The highest two-year winning percentage using RLM from the top five books belongs to College Football, which went 480-341-10, 58.5 percent, +95.10 units. Note that these records are for sides only and do not include totals.

The NFL sports betting is generally considered the toughest sport to beat, yet blindly following this method produced an exceptional 59.2 percent win rate last season, improving the two year record to 328-249-12, 56.8 percent, +59.06 units. However, instead of the line rising as you might expect, it instead drops to Chargers -6. To illustrate, let us say that San Diego Chargers open at -7 over the Miami Dolohins, and over 70 percent of the sports bets placed on the game are on San Diego. We tracked the top five books for each of the pointspread sports for the last two years, as as you can see, this strategy has been profitable in every sport. So what exactly is reverse line movement? RLM takes place when a large majority of bets are on one team, yet the line moves in the opposite direction. This may enable you to get the stale more favorable sports betting line at the time the reverse line movement hits at the triggering Sportsbook. Another important recommendation is to use a slow moving (but reliable) sportsbook. The records quoted below are based on the bets being made at the triggering books, so beating the move by a half-point or a few cents now and then would actually make your record even better.

    .

Thus, following reverse line movements is the same thing a following the smart money. This would make Miami +6 the RLM play.

So what causes RLM when the aim of most sportsbooks is to get as close to balanced action on both sides as possible? The answer to this is quite simple: the sharp bettors; the one’s who give sports betting advice. Sure, using this approach leaves open the possibility of the line turning around and moving back against you, but as you will see in bit, betting as soon as an RLM qualifies has been profitable in every major North American sport such as the last two seasons, so if one line turns around, so be it. RLM takes place when more money/ sportsbook picks are bet by the small percentage of bettors that are on the unpopular side (the sharps) than is bet by the huge majority of players betting the popular side (the squares). Quite a few RLM followers watch the moves until almost game time, and then bet accordingly. Keep a close eye on Canbet here, as that Australian sportsbook cracked the top five both years.

So what we recommend is to only use the top five each season for each individual sport (in terms of units won). This is where an important word of caution is in order though. Last year was a good RLM season for NFL sports betting (45-29, 60.8 percent, +11.91), but two sportsbooks that were in the top five in NFL RLM in both seasons.

College Basketball sports betting was not too shabby either, with a two-year mark of 492-356-22, 58.0 percent, +91.96 units. Keep an eyes on the top five sportsbooks at Sports Insights though, as NCAAF sports betting has been very liquid in that regard, with only one sportsbook (believe it or not, Bodog) finishing in the top five both years.

To back this up, our friends over at Prosportsonline.net have tracked the records for games where over 60 percent of the public has been on one side, yet there was reverse line movement of at least one full point from the opening number at the top sportsbooks in NFL, NCAAF, NBA and NCAAB. Keep in mind that NCAAB was the most liquid sport in terms of top-five sportbooks however, with not a single sportsbook making the top five both years. The huge problem with this is that the nfl line, ncaaf line or nhl line may have moved too much by that time, and all of the value has been sucked out of the unpopular side.

NBA sports betting has the lowest two-year five-book RLM winning percentage among the 11/10 sports, but then again, every gambler in the world would kill to Learn More

The atmosphere of early 20th century America and all the issues of the times such as Prohibition, race relations and even homosexuality are explored in the story so no controversial topic goes unnoticed. Dundas shows his knowledge of the sport from that era and writes it in a very easy to read manner that one will be books and spend a long time before putting this books down, as was the case for me. It is a tough, gritty tale but sometimes sweet at the same time. How Pepper and Moira then get their lives back together while training a talented but troubled black wrestler named Garfield Taft makes up the premise of a great novel by Chad Dundas.

The wrestling scenes in the book have an authentic feel and the reader will feel the pain of the wrestlers as well as the sharpness as fixed matches and calls of corruption were not uncommon at that time in the sport. To keep himself and his wife Moira financially afloat, he joins the circus as a vaudeville act but gets booted from that gig as well, being left behind when the circus packed up after a performance. The three main characters (Pepper, Moira and Taft) are all complex and yet well developed so that the reader will feel a connection with all three of them. .

And why not? We have unconditional love for the sport and betting $50 or $100 on a game adds an extra rush of adrenaline. “Because alcohol clouds your judgment and usually helps you to make rash decisions you usually wouldn’t otherwise make. Drinking and Gambling Don’t Mix – “There is a reason the casinos in Las Vegas supply you with free drinks while you are gambling,” Moseman says. “For example, if you have a $1,000 bankroll for the season, you should generally bet no more than $50 a game.”

Newspapers and popular sports sites routinely publish the lines or point spreads for games, and football insiders offer their picks to viewers each week on ESPN and other cable networks. “When you’re in a good rhythm and winning, you want to increase your bets. “The key to proper money management is to be sure not to bet more than you can afford to lose.” . Shop For Numbers – “Another important aspect of betting on football is shopping for the best number,” Moseman explains. Otherwise, you’re better off doing your own research.”

“There is probably no better bet in sports than playing an underdog at home,” Moseman says.

    4. “Squares usually bet later in the week and they tend to pick the favorites. Oakland comes to mind) seem like the Super Bowl. “If you listen to their advice, you are sure to lose.

Certainly not back into the pockets of the average bettor. Money Management – “This is without a doubt the most important aspect of betting on sports and possibly the most neglected,” says Morey “Doc” Moseman, a professional gambler and sports consultant with DocSports.com for nearly 40 years. “Most people prefer to bet on the ‘better’ team, the one that will probably win the game. Slim underdogs regularly win outright.

    5.

“The standard bet requires gamblers to lay $11 for every $10 they want to win with the extra $1 or 10 percent known as the juice,” Konik says.

So, is it possible for the average square to become a little sharper in making football bets this season? According to professionals like Vacarro, Konik and Gordon, amateur bettors have the best chance to win if they demonstrate a little patience and follow the 10 basic tips below. In fact, sports bettors must pick 52.4 percent winners just to break even.”

“A square or recreational player might have a vague plan, but after two Corona’s he will definitely run to the window and make a hasty decision on the USC-Notre Dame game because he wants to be involved in the party atmosphere,” Vaccaro says. Also, being “in action” can make a dull late-afternoon game (Buffalo vs. If you like an underdog, it is best to get your bet in as late as possible, where there is heavy action from squares on favorites. To be a successful sports bettor you need to operate with a clear mind.”

    2.

However, Konik adds that there are some bettors who actually know how to beat the bookies. Big underdogs often find ways to cover the spread and they rarely give up toward the end of a game in front of the home crowd.”

    7. He is not taken in by being involved in USC-Notre Dame just because it is the biggest watched game of the day.

And remember, in the immortal words of “Fast” Eddie Felson, “Money won is twice as sweet as money earned.”

And where does all that money go?

So, how much should you bet a game?

Betting on football games; whether it’s through a local bookie, an offshore Internet site or a Nevada casino (still the only legal place in America to make football bets), most of us have done it or know of someone who has. The payout is just the same as far as he is concerned. There is a wealth of information on the Internet; it is just up to you to find it and research it daily.”

Even Hollywood is not immune – think Two for the Money with Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey.

    9.

“The biggest mistake that amateur bettors make is they increase their bets when they are losing,” Sevransky says. “He is not jaded by teams and does not bet with his heart. Thanks to the juice, the only one who profits in this scenario is the bookmaker. Research Football Services – “Most sports services realize that most people who sign up with them are insecure,” Gordon warns. They use powerful computers that can process millions of bits of data and produce a more accurate point-spread line than the bookmakers.”

“In an average season, fewer than one bettor in twelve turns a profit,” Gordon says. “Common wisdom says that over the course of a long football season the average man or woman will pick approximately 50 percent winners. If you want advice about sports betting, find someone who has a successful track record. Avoid Chasing Bets – “Don’t do it! There is no worse way to mismanage your bankroll than to chase your bets after a losing day,” cautions Moseman on the dangerous practice of trying to immediately win back your losses. He loses year after year, according to Dan Gordon, a top football handicapper and author of How to Beat the Sports Books (Cardoza Publishing 2005). “There will be more discrepancy in the numbers at different sports books. Chasing losses is the fastest way to the poor house.”

    1. If North Texas is his best bet on a Saturday then that is his bet. “As for me, the best bet in football is betting the point spread or over/under totals on individual games.

But that doesn’t mean you have to bet like a “square” and throw away your hard-earned money.

    3. “The sharps are usually members of a betting syndicate privy to the most up-to-date information on injuries, weather, game plans, and, most important, the real power of the teams involved. “If you become an expert on a smaller conference like the Learn More

    By Lawrence Delevingne

NEW YORK, Oct 21 Ted Seides, a hedge fund

executive who was due to join Credit Suisse on Oct 1,

sent an email to contacts on Wednesday saying he decided not to

work at the Swiss bank after all. A spokesman for Credit Suisse declined to comment.

Separately on Wednesday, Credit Suisse said it had completed

a strategic review and that it was raising 6 billion Swiss

francs ($6.3 billion) from investors, slimming down its

investment bank, and cutting jobs. .

Seides, who co-founded hedge fund investment firm Protégé

Partners, resigned from that firm in June and had planned to run

a hedge fund at Credit Suisse. As of the middle of

this year, Buffett was well ahead in the bet.

Seides also recently wrote a book about how to invest in

hedge funds, to be published by Wiley in January.

In his letter, Seides said he is considering starting his

own investment firm, investing in hedge fund managers as part of

a larger shop, or even joining a large direct investment firm in

    a senior role.

“With this recent development and for the first time in a

decade and a half,” he wrote, “I am declaring my free agency in

time for the MLB World Series (although unfortunately not in

time to help the Yankees get there),” referring to U.S. “The complexities of the transition led me to take a

pause, reassess, and conclude that I wanted some more time and

space before diving into my next adventure.”

Seides, 44, confirmed the note in a telephone call

    Wednesday. Major

    League Baseball.

In 2001, Seides helped found Protégé, which is now a $2

billion fund, after working under David Swensen at Yale

University’s famed endowment investment unit from 1992 to 1997.

Protégé famously has a bet with Warren Buffett on whether a

group of hedge fund managers can beat a low-fee stock index fund

over 10 years ending on December 31, 2017. Tidjane Thiam,

the bank’s new chief executive, launched the review in July soon

after he took the reins. He was set to run

investing for a planned hedge fund that would use multiple

portfolio managers to place bets on the markets, a so-called

    “multi-manager” approach.

“As we worked through the details over the last three

months, we hit a snag in reconciling conflicts between my

departure at Protégé and my arrival at Credit Suisse,” Seides

    wrote.

Seides had planned to join Credit Suisse Asset Management to

work with Mino Capossela, who heads hedge-fund-like products for

retail investors known as “liquid alternative investments,” and

Bob Jain, who heads global asset management Learn More
